Who we are
East Tennessee Grotto is a local internal organization of the National Speleological Society and a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that is dedicated to promoting the exploration, study, and conservation of caves in the East Tennessee area and beyond.
Meetings and Community Information
The East Tennessee Grotto meets on the first Wednesday of each month at 7:00 PM (EST). Meetings are typically held in the Historic Cherokee Caverns unless otherwise noted. The Caverns’ address is:

Information on caving trips, general grotto discussions, and more can be found over on our Facebook pages. We have two groups: East Tennessee Grotto and East Tennessee Grotto MEMBERS. Our public page is open to anyone who is interested in the joining the ETG community. This group primarily serves to communicate with other grottos, share caving news, and for public grotto events. Our members only page is for members who have filled out our membership application and paid their dues for the year. Most of our caving trips are posted here, so be sure to join!
